Congratulations to our crew who raced OFSAA XC Monday!  It was a challenging day with a persistent and annoying light rain.  However it started with a bang; Niamh winning silver in the NG race.  Eight CTAC athletes finished in the Top 50.  No small feat at OFSAA XC.  Four were Top 10’s, Niamh’s silver aside, Rebecca followed with a 4th in the JG, Oliver was 5th in the JB, and Kieva 6th in the SG event!!  Another four posted Top 50 finishes.  They include Willliam 18th JB, Nathan 22nd SB, Morgan 22nd SG and Saku 47th NG.

Also, members of our group contributed significantly in the team results.  MaddyZ. was the 3rd scorer for the Malvern SG team silver, Addison and Heidi helped their Northern SS team to a 7th place finish, and Oliver and Mato helped their Victoria Park team to a 9th place finish.  Championship races like OFSAA are very demanding and no matter where you may have finished, you’ve had the opportunity to learn!!  Awesome job everyone!!

CTAC 6inthe6 Cross Country Meet

The CTAC Experience

We Are CTAC

Congratulations to all who competed at the Bell Canadian Track & Field Championships and Olympic Trials. The title says it all. We shared the track with the likes of Andre DeGrasse, Marco Arop, Lucia Stafford and many others headed to the Paris Olympics. The U20 competition was the final opportunity for athletes to make standard for the U20 World Championships to be held in Peru. It’s not a mini meet! Our crew of 9, including CTAC graduate Caleigh. performed at a level of excellence we have come to expect: Morgan led the way with a 6th place finish and new PB in the U20W 1500m, JackG. and Nathan established new personal best performances in the 5000m, and Kieva and CharlieG. advanced from the qualifying round to the semis, with CharlieG. providing the drama and a “spicy” finish to advance. Congratulations to all!

Year End Summary

It’s the end of an era for some, but for all of us, as we approach the end of our 2023/2024 athletic year it is a good time to reflect on the CTAC experience. The development of athletic skills is paramount but creating lifelong friendships is an added benefit. Experienced, expert coaching, meeting all the needs of high performance short and middle-distance athletes, has been our hallmark since the club was created and continues to be our strength. Consequently, we have a history of success. We are proud of our graduates who have competed for Canada at the international level, and of the current generation already experiencing success at OFSAA, AO championships and on the national stage.

What we offer our members is unmatched by larger clubs: team bonding through activities like our annual Ohio meet, the Florida training camp, athlete support for high performance meets in New York/Boston, and team/family dinners. Parents have told us the fall welcome back coffee and picnic in Sunnybrook set us apart from others. And of course, our annual awards banquet is a highlight on our social calendar.

Additionally, coaches are always appreciative of our parent support, your participation in the life of the club and your unending positive feedback.
Thank you all for your continuing and heardelt support.

Florida Training Camp 2024

Thank you Clermont and the National Triaining Centre for hosting CTAC. Our 2024 training camp was no different that those of the past; a lot of hard work and fun!!  It was an intensive five days of training that’s rewarding both athletically and socially, evidenced by the multiple postings on Instagram by ctacgirls, ctacboys and ctacrunning.   These opportunities create lifelong memories and help shape athletes into future adults. Who can forget the dead and dried gecko, meal competition chirping, over/under on grocery bills (sorry parents), the boys epic film, pool running, dodging gators in the state park, and the amazing race, are only a few examples.

2024 Nike Indoor Nationals

What a weekend of racing for three CTAC girls, Morgan, Kieva and Rebecca, at the 2024 Nike Indoor Nationals (NIN) held at the historic Armory Track in New York.  The girls turned in three Top 20 performances, along the way setting new personal bests, indoor personal bests and season’s best performances.

And That’s a Wrap On The 2024 Indoor Season

With the completion of the Athletics Ontario U16/U20 Indoor Championships this past weekend (March 2/3) we end the 2024 indoor competition period. CTAC athletes went out in style posting 7 Top 10 performances that include a 4th (William U16B 2k) and bronze medal (Morgan U20W 800m). Not to be missed was the impressive number of personal best performances; 13 to be exact, including 1 indoor best. Training to race fast indoors has never been a priority for CTAC. These are remarkable achievements as a result. All that remains is the Nike Indoor Nationals in New York for three of CTAC’s best; Rebecca Girls Emerging Elite 800m, Kieva Girls Emerging Elite 2-Mile and Mile, and Morgan Girls Championship 800m and Mile.

Congratulations to all and best of luck for the crew racing in New York!

U18G Ranked 9th at Nationals!!

Congratulations to all who raced the Canadian Cross Country Championships!  It was a difficult race but our crew rose to the occasion.  There were many highlights including Morgan and Kieva’s 5th and 16th placing to lead the U18G to a 9th place in team scoring.  The U18B lead this year by Kyrie, finished 20th in team scoring.  And not to be forgotten, Sho’s 36th place finish in a gruelling U20M race, running his best race of the year.  Great job everyone!  As always, I am extremely proud of our athletes and their efforts throughout the cross-country season!  We’ve had an outstanding season and your performances at Nationals reflected that success!

Special thanks to all the parents who made the trek to Ottawa.  Your cheering, support and assistance is always appreciated!!

Now onto the indoor season where we have some exciting racing prospects!

So Close! CTAC @ AO Cross Country!

So close!  That summed up our day as a club at the Athletics Ontario Cross Country Championships.  See if you notice a pattern.  But first, congrats to MorganB., in our Intro Group, for her 3rd place finish in the U10G race and to the U10B team who brought home the Team Bronze!  Additionally, shout outs are in order for the following who all finished 4th in their race; Sho (U20M), MorganY. (U18G), Kieva (U16G) and Niamh (U14G).  And lets not forget the U16G finished 4th in the team standings.  So close in so many races.  The reality is Ontario club championships are extremely difficult.  There is no other province with the depth of quality across all ages.  Our crew should be proud of their performances yesterday; I know the coaches are!!  It was a remarkable job by everyone!  Congratulations!
